What i will be telling you below you must understand and agree upon
BEFORE you use any part of the FEBBS-Package. The FEBBS-Package is
subject to the following license terms and conditions.
* The FEBBS-package is supplied as is. The author disclaims all
warranties, expressed or implied, including, without limitation,
the warranties of merchantability and of fitness for any purpose.
The author assumes no liability for damages, direct or
consequential, which may result from the use of the FEBBS-package.
* The FEBBS-package is a "shareware program" and is provided at no
charge to the user for evaluation. Feel free to share it with your
friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of
another system. The essence of "user-supported" software is to
provide personal computer users with quality software without high
prices, and yet to provide incentive for programmers to continue to
develop new products.
* The FEBBS-package, all programs, the documentation and support
files are copyrighted 1991 by Patrik Sjöberg. All rights are
reserved. You may copy this package for backup purposes. You may
also copy and share unmodified copies of the whole package,
providing that the copyright notice is reproduced and included on
all copies.
* You may not sell the product for a fee and/or distribute the
product along with other products without written permission, nor
may you modify or remove the Copyright Notices from the programs or
the documentation files. User clubs, if they are NOT commercial,
are allowed to ask a small amount of money for distribution and
storage when they want to share this package amongst their members.
* It is forbidden to modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer,
decompile and/or disassemble the software in the FEBBS-package.
Patching the medium at places that carry the software is seen as a
program change and is also forbidden.
* Non-commercial users can get a licence for the usage up to this
release of the FEBBS-package for a small amount of money. Previous
registered users will receive a big reduction to upgrade to the newer
versions.
* Commercial usage of FEBBS will cost somewhat more. Also, a so
called 'closed' Bulletin Board System (a system where the user must
pay direct to the SysOp to get full access) has to pay more than a
Non-commercial user. Usage of the Febbs-Package on a BBS with 3
(three) lines or more is considered as 'closed bbs' usage also.

The different licenses.

There are several ways of registrating the Febbs-package. It is
all depending on the environment where Febbs will be running.
Read the disclaimer above before you decide what type of registration
that suits your environment.
NON-Commercial registration :
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Regarding the time and effort i have put into this product, the
NON-commercial registration is simple and rather cheap.
Payment of the registration fee, entitles you to:
- The license for running ONE copy of the Febbs-package on any
computer in a NON-commercial environment. Allthough you must
treat the Febbs-Package like a book. That is, it can't be run
on more than one CPU at a time.
- A Serial number that makes your Copy of Febbs licensed to You.
This serial number can be used on subsequent releases for at
least a year, Any copy can be used, also thoose obtained from
Shareware sources like a BBS.
- The license for NON-commercial usage can not be used in any other
environment than the NON-commercial environment itself. Upgrading
to a commercial license or to a license for a closed BBS can be
done by paying the difference in price between the current license
and the new license;
The license does NOT include any update service as described later
nor does it include the 90 days support service.
The price for a NON-commercial license is SEK 170:-
Closed BBS registration:

When you use the Febbs-Package on a it on a so called 'closed' BBS you
must pay for a closed BBS license.
The definition of a closed BBS is a BBS where the users must pay to the
Sysop to get full access. Also a BBS with three (3) or more lines must
pay a closed BBS License.
Payment of the registration fee, entitles you to:
- The license for running ONE copy of the Febbs-package on any
computer in a closed BBS environment. Allthough you must
treat the Febbs-Package like a book. That is, it can't be run
on more than one CPU at a time.
- A Serial number that makes your Copy of Febbs licensed to You.
This serial number can be used on subsequent releases for at
least a year, Any copy can be used, also thoose obtained from
Shareware sources like a BBS.
- The license for closed BBS usage can not be used in any other
environment than the closed BBS environment itself. Upgrading
to a commercial license can be done by paying the difference
in price between the current license and the new license;
The license does NOT include any update service as described later
nor does it include the 90 days support contract.

Commercial registration:

When you use the Febbs-Package in a commercial environment you must pay
for commercial license use Febbs. Any company registrating Febbs is
regarded as a commercial. It doesn't matter if the company isn't
making any money from the usage. It is still being run from an
commercial environment.
Payment of the registration fee, entitles you to:
- The license for running ONE copy of the Febbs-package on any
computer in a commercial environment. Allthough you must
treat the Febbs-Package like a book. That is, it can't be run
on more than one CPU at a time.
- A Serial number that makes your Copy of Febbs licensed to Your
company or You if you wish. This serial number can be used on
subsequent releases for at least a year, Any copy can be used,
also thoose obtained from Shareware sources like a BBS.
- The license for commercial usage can be used in any other
environment than the closed BBS environment. As long as the
above is regarded and Febbs is used like a book.
The license does NOT include any update service as described later
nor does it include the 90 days support contract.
The license is NOT a Site license. Contact the Author for information
if you wish to enter a site license.
The price for a commercial license is SEK 650:-

Method of payment.

There are several ways of transfering the license fee to me.
Common for all of them is that they should be made payable
to Patrik Sjöberg.
- By postal money order or international money order. Normal cheques
will cost me extra money to cash, so add SEK 20:- for transfer
if you use a cheque. The real rate for transfering a Foreign check
is SEK 50 :- so i am only charging you some of the amount for
this. The conversion charge only applies to Non-Swedish cheques.
- By Postal Giro.
My Postal Giro account in Stockholm is 414 24 67 - 2.
The Postal Giro is also known as PostGiro, Postcheckkonto,
Compte Chèques postaux, PostRekening, Girobank Account all
depending on the country you live in.
- Sending money directly.
At this point i can Not accept credit cards. I am currently in
contact with my bank to try to solve this problem
All prices are given in Swedish Krones. If you feel unsure what the
current exchange rate is talk with your bank. They will be more than
happy to help you out.

Please note that all Checks and MoneyOrders must be in Swedish
Currency otherwise i will have to pay up to 30% of the
Non-commercial license just to be able to cash it. I may even
be forced to return your payment and ask you to resend it in
proper currency.
I think that if you can afford a BBS, a Computer, a modem
and probably EchoMail, then you also can afford to pay the
software that you use to maintain your BBS.
I know that it shouldn't be to hard to crack the few things
that appear in the unregistered version but thats not the point.
The program still works. It is *Not* Crippled in any other way!
I don't believe that a program can be made full-proof to hackers,
and such, I don't find it usefull to create difficult algorithms.
Many people know by now that when people don't register, the
program will die, sooner or later. So if you wish to see future
enhancemants of Febbs ( and my other programs ) then Please Register.

Upgrades

If you have registered a version prior to this one with a postcard
then you may order an upgrade. Contact me to work this out.
If you have registered any other way and recieved youre license
number then no additional fees are necesary.

New versions

How much I still would like to send you all an upgrade for free I
can't do that. My phonebills wouldn't stand it. So if you would
like an upgrade of FEBBS when it sees the light of day you will have
to enter the update service. International users who use Febbs will
benefit most of this feature. Paying the fee for update service,
entitles you to:
- Receiving every new release for the period of one year or 10
releases (which ever comes first) on diskette media by
first-class Airmail.
- The diskettes are first-class (no no-name or white diskettes) and
will contain a special diskette label;
The disk(s) will be mailed the same day as the new version is released.

Support

The Febbs-Package has full support from its Author.
New versions are allways under development. And the Author is
allways open to the user input. So if you feel that something
is missing or that something is "backwards" let me know and
i'll have a look at it and maybe in some future version you'll
find it implemented.
As a registered user you are entitled to :
- Free support.
- This support consists of answering questions and fixing any program
errors the user submits to Author in person. Only program errors
that can be reproduced and that interfere with the intended use of
the program as outlined in the documentation will be fixed. The
author can ask you to give some special data to correct the problem
and can ask you to check if you own a valid copy of the Febbs-package.
- The author may choose not to fix any problem that is related to
hardware and/or software configurations that causes one or more
of the programs in the Febbs-package not to run correctly. If the
Author chooses to NOT correct such a problem you are NOT entitled
to a refund of the license money.
Unregistered users will only reciece support if i have the time.
I do NOT guarente that non-registered users will get any response from
the Author.
