WILDCAT! 11/01/89 TEST DRIVE RELEASE
This README file contains brief information regarding the enclosed WILDCAT!
TEST-DRIVE release.
1. The dates on all files you receive should be 11-1-89, and all programs
should reference the TEST-DRIVE release of that date. This TEST-DRIVE
program is distributed as a two- diskette set (if on disk) or as two
self-extracting .EXE files. If you have any doubts about the integrity
of the files you have received you may order the TEST-DRIVE program
directly from Mustang Software, Inc. for $10 Call us at 805-395-0223 if
you want a complete version shipped via UPS.
2. MAKE SURE you have a minimum of 2 MB of Hard Disk Storage available
BEFORE installing WILDCAT!
3. If you received this version directly from Mustang Software, Inc or
perhaps your User Group or Shareware Vendor, then you should have
received two diskettes. To get started, create a directory on your hard
drive called WILDCAT (ie MD \WILDCAT), then change to that directory
(ie CD \WILDCAT). While in your WILDCAT directory, place Disk #1
(PROGRAM.DISK) in Drive A and type:
A:WCPGMS
This is a self extracting file, which means several files will come out
of WCPGMS and will be placed in your WILDCAT directory. Then, when
WCPGMS is finished, type:
A:WCDOCS
This self extracting file contains the complete 180+ page documentation,
as well as a file called REGISTER.FRM which is a Registration Form for
receiving the latest commercial version.
Next, replace DISK #1 (PROGRAM DISK) with DISK #2 (SUPPORT DISK) and
type:
A:DISPLAY
This self extracting file contains all of WILDCAT! display files (Menus,
Bulletins, Help Files, Etc...) when DISPLAY is finished extracting type:
A:WCUTILS
This self extracting file contains all the utility programs, such as the
installation program called MAKEWILD and file utility ADDFILES, plus
many more.
Once WCUTILS is completed, then you should print out the WILDCAT!.DOC
file and follow the instructions within the docs.
4. If you received WILDCAT! electronically, then you should have downloaded
WILDCAT1.EXE and WILDCAT2.EXE (As originally distributed by Mustang
Software, Inc.). These are self extracting files. WILDCAT1.EXE is the
WILDCAT! PROGRAM DISK and WILDCAT2.EXE is the WILDCAT! SUPPORT DISK.
To get started, create a directory called WILDCAT and self extract
WILDCAT1 and WILDCAT2 in that directory. Then follow the instructions
outlined above in paragraph #2 with the exception you can delete
WCPGMS.EXE, WCDOCS.EXE, DISPLAY.COM, & WCUTILS.EXE from your hard drive
after you've extracted all of your files.
5. WILDCAT! TEST-DRIVE will NOT operate on a floppy disk system, it
requires a hard disk for operation.
6. The documentation WILDCAT!.DOC is very complete, and will printout over
180 pages of text. It includes 25 pages of documentation on advanced
features not included in the TEST-DRIVE version. These 25 pages are
included to provide details of these advanced features (Doors &
Multi-Line operation) and to answer user questions.
7. The documentation makes use of the IBM Extended character set including
line drawing characters. If your printer is not capable of printing
these characters, you will instead see other symbols in place of the
lines and boxes.
8. Print the documentation by simply copying the documentation file to your
printer with the command line
COPY WILDCAT!.DOC PRN
Again, it is over 180 pages in length.
9. Voice Tech Support is provided for your initial setup only, feel free to
call if you have questions regarding the installation. We ask that you
have a copy of the documentation printed out (yes all 180+ pages) in
front of you when you call. It is also helpful if you're in front of your
computer which is going to run WILDCAT! when you call.
SORRY, we can NOT provide voice support if you have NOT taken the time
to print out our documentation! NO EXCEPTIONS!
