Zipster 2.5 - February 18, 1990

To update from a previous version of Zipster, simply replace the old
ZIPSTER.EXE file with the one for this version.

Among the new features are:

1. A status line with information about the caller.
2. Ability to test whole Zipfiles, or individual files within a Zipfile.
3. Ability to chat with users, and to hang-up on users.
4. Zipster now has a built-in ANSI processor, and BIOS screen writes
rather than regular DOS writes are used. This allows for faster
video, while still maintaining compatibility with multi-taskers.
5. The attributes of files in Zipfiles are now shown.
6. If a user requests to read a file that is probably not a text file,
then the user will be asked if he or she really wants to read it.
7. Zipster will now work with any comport that the fossil supports
(previous versions only supported Com1 and Com2).
8. The directory verification routine in Zipster 2.4 has been modified
to make it compatible with protected directories (as might be the
   case with a network drive).
9. The <R>ead, <E>xtract, and <C>ue functions on the main menu have been
replaced with <P>rocess. <P>rocess allows reading, extracting, and
testing of files. When specifying files to process, wildcards can be
   used.

Things to watch out for:

1. For the hang-up feature, Zipster toggles the DTR. If you try this
feature and it doesn't drop carrier on the caller, then you might
want to try adding &D2&C1 to your modem's initialization string.

2. The jump to DOS feature and the main test Zipfile feature look at
COMSPEC for the location of COMMAND.COM. If you boot off of a floppy
drive, you might want to add this to the floppy's AUTOEXEC.BAT:

   SET COMSPEC=C:\COMMAND.COM

That will speed things up a bit, and will also guard against the fact
that the boot floppy may no longer be in the floppy drive, or that
the floppy drive may be open.

Zipster 2.4

1. Added the ability to handle self-extracting Zipfiles.
2. Switched to a more generic method to process Zipfiles.
3. Added a routine to allow Zipster to properly handle filenames
beginning with a dash (which would normally be treated as parameters).
4. Hitting Alt-J will allow the sysop to jump to DOS.
5. Changed routines to allow the reading/extracting of Zipfiles if
the DOS program SHARE is active.
6. Users can now hit "C" at the more prompt for continuous reading.
7. When viewing a Zipfile, the time stamp for each compressed file is
   now shown.
8. Unless the sysop is logged on locally, the user inactivity beep will
only be sent to the remote computer.
9. A fossil driver is now required.

Zipster 2.3

An update to allow Zipster to display "Imploded" rather than
"New Type" for the compression method.

Zipster 2.2

Added fossil driver support, making Zipster more compatible with
different computers and modems.

Zipster 2.1

1. Removed the support for OLEcom's AREA.LST file. The documentation
explains how to create a FLSEARCH.CTL file, which accomplishes the
   same thing.

2. Fixed a problem where the whole Zipfile would be unzipped, and not
deleted when done, if a user incorrectly specified a file ending in a
   slash.

Zipster 2.0

1. Added a Cue feature, which prompts the user as to which action to
take for each file in the Zipfile.

2. Eliminated the need for the <V>iew function to use PKUNZIP. Phil
Katz's PKZIP and PKUNZIP are still needed for the other functions.

3. Began reading all data files more leniently. Previously, Zipster
could lock up if there were extra lines in QuickBBS's FLSEARCH.CTL or
   OLEcom's AREA.LST.

4. To make reading text files more pleasant, began filtering out
Control-L characters (which cause screen clears) and Control-G
   characters (which cause beeps).
