% introduction and like stuff (ack)
woohoo! welcome to demonic prodcutionz' first for 1/97, some people
doubted, some people hoped, and here it is. It could have been
bigger but it's still better.
i'll make this part nice and short, the orgin of demonic. being
genuinly fed up with modding after the deaths of just about all my
old affils (tric, fsw, px, ts, sin, ta) i decided to take up my
own group (well, it was a nifty idea at the time) so i decided to
draft some of my friends from previous groups, i mean, people i
knew farily well and liked the work of. at first i didn't get much
support, but eventually (ie after the death of most of their
groups and having nothing better to do) we all got together, the
final step in my grand scheme was to actually set a release date
and then pester the hell out of them for their work (this worked
fairly well in most cases) a few odd members joined (i don't know
where they came from but i'm not complaining) and here we are.

well right now, since this is our first pack, i can't say much
about the status of our members that you can't see from the member
list. one thing you might notice is that i'm the only senior, the
truth is i'm a total fascist (ok.. maybe not) actually i didn't
want to be put on the spot by picking from my friends. by next
release we should have that all straightened out =)
guests in this pack. ok, the guests.. well.. we do have some of
them. first and foremost, special thanks to filth (cia) for being
such a bud and doing this killer ansi at the top. next to phlux
for the demon matrix in dem-app.exe (woo) one of the first people
to start supporting demonic was king jamez (tric) at the time there
was no tric and he was hurting for a modding group, he still chills
with us every now and then. six6six (inj), about the same to him,
thanks for setting up various bots etc etc etc.. finally to
empty (cia) who said he'd like to guest mod/code with us in the
future, though he didn't get anything with us this time.. thanks

where the hell are all the modding groups nowdays? it seems as the
internet grows, bbses inevitably die along with it. this is the
the DEATH of the bbs scene, while the art scene still flurishes,
our scene, however, does not.
since the days of the first modding groups (firm, tric, cream, etc)
we have not been able to keep our groups together no matter the
leaders, coders, modders, artists, whatever we employ. (as the
amazingly cool group fsw taught the scene last year) we just keep
droping off to the plauge of the internet.
"why can't we be more like the art scene?" most semi-successful art
groups / packs seem to be heavily cluttered with art (take aaa's
first pack, or even plan9's.. not to be rude, i love both of them)
sometimes to componsate for lack of work for their packs. (aaa?)
and sometimes because they joint groups (art and modding) (plan 9?)
that or they just suck. (projectx) actually, most of the impressive
groups premeiring these days are heavily affiliated with the art
scene, that is, having alot of artists or sharing with art groups
(xpress's releation to force?)
another scene we should try to be more like (steal ideas from) is
that great thing which most of us neo style modders know nothing
about, the european scene, as a whole is pretty nifty, but their
groups are a force to be reconed with. most of them release and
mod seperatly and tend to have awsome release lists as long as your
arm, i'm talking about the system/x, desire, pc/x, ami/x, pcb
modding groups (food, xroads, gen/x)
though many old modding groups are trying to make revials (illness)
though most of which are rather unsuccesful though i can think of
one good come back (tric.. who came back after like 7 months.. heh,
an old group it was too.. my first.. good going)
on a slightly more hopeful outlook, we (modders) have been resently
influenced by this years sudden rush of new bbs softwares floating
around or in-development (instinct 3.0, nexus/2, quantum, pantheon
penis/x.. haha) hopefully we'll get to see the releases of all of
these, except penix/s of course ;)
well, as my whole point of this whining session.. the modding scene
is quickly dying and we need something to preserve, actually, what
i had in mind was a modding/bbsing archive, acid's artpacks and the
demos colletions on ftp.cdrom.com are excellent examples of what
i'd like to achieve (bbs softwares, mods, modding packs.. etc)
since it's obvious (if you havn't noticed) that acid doesn't want
our (or anyone else's) modding packs on it's server, which is a
another reason to do this.
i don't care who does it, me, or someone from some other group,
just that it's done, uploadable, leechable and no or little rules.
god knows it's damn hard to get a bbs stuff unless you really
search. someone do this! on a perm server to.. i'd gladly hand
over my personal collection for such a cause.
on one final note, in future info files i'll be throwing in a list
of all modding groups that i know of.. if you run one or a part
of one email me with information...
