When you warp to a sector you will find one of the following:

StarBase: A StarBase is a port where you can purchase energy,
fighters, cargo drones, or have your fleet repaired.

Port: A port is a location where you can by and sell various
cargoes. You may also take on passengers.

Settlement: A settlement is a location that a player made from a
sector. This is also classified as a port, with the
a distinct difference. The player that made the settle-
ment can take the production of the settlement for no
charge. The production of the settlement is determined by
various means. The most important being the number of
of people living at the settlement. A player may also
purchase fighters at a StarBase to be sent to a settlement
for a defense force. The player may not take production
from the settlement until a defense force is set up. A
            settlement cost 1000 credits

Sector: A point in space that has no port. This location can be
            made into a settlement.

While in space the player has many options. Among these are the following:

Attack: A player can attack other players, whether they are online
or not. If a player is in a sector with a settlement, the
player will be asked if they wish to attack the defense
force. The success of the attack with depend on each others
shields, amount of energy, and and the number of particle
beams fired at each other or the number of fighters engaed
in the battle . A player will either loose or gain points,
energy, shields, communications, cargo drones, or even might
            be destroyed during the attack.

Bank: A player can transfer funds to a bank while in space.
The interest paid varies with time due to interest rate
            fluctuations.

Computer: The player can access the ships computer to retrieve much
information about the fleet and the surrounding space.
You may also look at the system log pertaining to your events,
You may raise and lower your shields, and your defensive
systems. The defensive systems allow your fleet to move on
its own when you are offline and when your computer believes
that you are about to be attacked. If you are online then
you are warned about the impending attack. The defensive
system warping however, uses 5 units of energy for every
            move it takes.

Display: The player can display other ships in the sector. This may
avoid being attacked by another player.

Land: This allows the player to land at a StarBase, Port, or
settlement to purchase, sell cargoes and pick up passengers.

Hailing Ch: The player may open a hailing channel to send a message to
all other players that are online at the same time.

Navigate: This allows you to select various sectors to warp to and
and land or do settlement commands. An example would be
            w10,11,12,13,14,s or w1,3,4,5,6l.

Settlement: This allows a player to make a settlement out of an empty
sector and to develop it buy building factories, markets,
and by leaving immigrants there to build up the population.

Quit: The graceful way to quit the game.

Team: This allows a person to join a team, locate team members,
transfer funds to other team members, and send messages
            between team members.

Warp: Allows a player to move between sectors.

A brief description of the scoring system often needs to be discussed.
Scoring is presently done on the basis of points (acquired by winning attacks,
transferring people, building settlements and other means) and by the
amount of credits that the player has in the bank and on hand.

The StarQuest player has the option of turning on their defensive system or
not. If it is turned on while they are playing, it will let the player
know if another player has located them and locked onto them and are ready
to attack. If however, the player is offline, the defensive systems will
move the ship for them (NOTE: each move uses 5 units of energy). It is
reccomended that the player always have enough energy when they log off
to allow the defensive systems to move their ship. If the defensive systems
do not have enough energy to move, then the ship will not be moved.

When a player makes a settlement, he must put at least 1 fighter there to
defend it or the player can not take the production from the settlement for
free. If another player attacks the defense force and wins, and then they
leave defense force their, then the settlement belongs to them.
