Must Review a Record First
The command you have selected applies to the currently selected
userlog record. You have never selected any record during this
ULEDIT session.
You must first go to the "Files" menu and select the "Review"
option. Then position to the record you wish to use this command
upon. Then this command will operate.
You are using the TBBS Userlog File Editor (ULEDIT) Version 2.2.
This is the program you use to maintain the Userlog file entries.
The F1 help key is fully context sensitive. Use it at any field
or dialog box to obtain information on that item.
This program allows mouse control of all of its features. All
status line indicators are "mouse active" as are all edit fields,
menu items, action line entries, and dialog box buttons.

Name
This is the name (or ID) of the user who's record you are
editing.
From
This is the calling location of the user who's record you are
editing.
Note
This is the notes field for the user who's record you are
editing, and may consist of any characters or information you
wish to store there. (The notes field is not used by TBBS
itself.)
Authorization - Priv
This is the privilege level of the user who's record you are
editing. This number can be from 0 (zero) to 255, and is
inclusive in nature (the higher the setting, the higher the
access). The precise Priv numbering scheme you use on your
system is your choice and is based on your own needs.
Levels 254 and 255 are Sysop levels, and permit access to private
messages on the system, or any other Sysop-only functions you've
provided.
Authorization - Access (Ax) Flags
These are the 32 access flags for this user. They are divided
into four groups of eight each, named A1, A2, A3 and A4. The
meaning of these flags is decided by you in the design of your
system. (See the Understanding How it Works Guide for details on
access flags.)
X in any position means the flag is ON.
. in any position means the flag is OFF.
Limits - Min/Call
This setting controls how many minutes per single call this user
is allowed remain online. When this amount of time is exhausted
on a single call, the user will be disconnected from the system.
Valid settings are from 0 (zero) to 255 minutes. 0 means time
per call is not limited by this setting.
Limits - Min/24hr
This settings controls how many minutes this user may connect per
24 hour period. This limit is cumulative across all calls within
a single that day. When this amount of time has been used in one
day the user cannot logon again until the next day.
Valid settings are from 0 (zero) to 1440 minutes. 0 means that
a user's time is not limited by this option.
Limits - Bytes/24hr
This setting controls the number of bytes of data a user will be
allowed to download from the system in a 24 hour period.
Valid settings are from 0 (zero) to 99999999 bytes. 0 means that
downloads are unlimited.
Limits - Calls/24hr
This setting controls the number of calls a user will be allowed
to make to the system in a 24 hour period.
Valid settings are from 0 (zero) to 255. 0 means that there is
no limit on the number of calls each 24 hour period.
Limits - Exp. Date
This setting designates the date on which this user will expire.
Upon expiration, the user will be handled as though pre-
authorized billing class 0 time has expired. If you set this
field to 00/00/00 then the user does not have an expiration date.

refer to the Understanding How it Works guide.
User Settings - Xpert Level
This setting controls the menu expert level of this user, and
affects the level of prompting the user is provided at the menu.
0 = Beginner, 1 = Normal, 2 = Expert, 3 = Super Expert
NOTE: Expert levels apply only when simple, non-ANSI menu
screens are in use on your system. They do not apply to
sophisticated menu interfaces where color and/or graphics boxes
have been used.
User Settings - New Pointers
This setting controls the style of new message pointers this user
prefers.
A setting of 1 here is considered more natural by many users and
stores the highest message number read on an area-by-area basis.
A setting of 2 here is considered more accurate by many users and
stores the lowest numbered message which has not yet been read on
an area-by-area basis.
User Settings - Ask Submit
This setting controls whether or not the user is prompted with:
"Submit prepared msg text (Y/N)?"
each time they enter a message. If prompted, the user may elect
to upload an ASCII text file as the message text itself in lieu
of typing the message online. Without this prompting, the user
does not have this option.
Press Y here for YES, or N for NO to control whether this prompt
is displayed to the user.
User Settings - Msg Editor
This setting controls which message editor is used by the caller.
A setting of ASK will cause TBBS to ask the user each time
whether or not he wishes to use the full-screen editor. A
setting of LIN will cause TBBS to use the line-oriented editor
automatically, and FSE will cause TBBS to use the full-screen
editor automatically.
Press A for ASK, F for FSE, or L for LIN to change this setting.
NOTE: The full-screen editor can only be used by ANSI/VT-100
capable users. If this setting is ASK or FSE and the user
doesn't have ANSI/VT-100, the line-oriented editor is used.
User Settings - L/Ed Prompt
This setting controls which type of message input prompting is
provided when the caller is using the line-oriented message
editor to enter a message online.
A setting of 1 here means line number only prompting; a setting
of 2 means bytes remaining and line number prompting; and a
setting of 3 means plain prompt only. Refer to the CEDIT chapter
of Reference Manual, Logon Menu, New User Defaults section for a
discussion of these prompting methods with examples.
User Settings - Keep Toggle
This radio button controls whether or not this user has "keep"
status. When the button is on (filled with a square) the user
will not be deleted when aging the userlog.
Press the Space Bar or K key to toggle this setting when in edit
mode.
User Settings - Invisible Toggle
This radio button controls whether or not this user has
"invisible" status. When the button is on (filled with a square)
the user will not be listed on a who display (menu command Type
50 or /W command in Type 51 or 52) or on a recent callers list
(Type 22).
Press the Space Bar or I key to toggle this setting when in edit
mode.
User Settings - Reviewed Toggle
This radio button controls whether or not this user has been
reviewed by you, and is used in conjunction with the "next
unreviewed" search method.
Press the Space Bar or R key to toggle this setting when in edit
mode.
User Settings - Full access Toggle
This radio button controls whether or not this user has "full
access." It used in conjunction with A3 line bumping, discussed
in detail in the Understand How it Works guide.
Press the Space Bar or F key to toggle this setting when in edit
mode.
User Settings - Public account Toggle
This radio button controls whether or not this user is allowed to
logon the system more than once at a time. This setting is only
checked when TBBS is run using the /U command line switch.
Press the Space Bar or P key to toggle this setting when in edit
mode.
Terminal Configuration - Width
This setting controls the screen width (in characters) of this
user. TBBS automatically word-wraps most text displays to fit the
screen of the user automatically, based on this setting.
Valid settings are from 10 to 132.
Terminal Configuration - More/Page
This setting controls the more setting, also called screen or page
length. The number is measured in lines.
Valid settings are from 0, or 10 to 80. When set to 0, TBBS will
never pause screen displays (constant scrolling). When set to
between 10 and 80, TBBS will automatically pause on large text
displays when a screen is filled.
Terminal Configuration - Nulls
This setting controls the number of nulls sent by TBBS after each
carriage return or CLS (clear screen) to accommodate the slow
terminal of a user. This is rarely necessary for a video display,
and is included primarily for older, printing terminals (such as a
Teletype).
Terminal Configuration - Graphics Toggle
This radio button controls whether or not this user's terminal can
support IBM Graphics characters. When the button is off (not
filled with a square) TBBS will automatically convert any IBM
Graphics characters to a generic ASCII equivalent before
displaying them to the user.
NOTE: When this button is on (filled with a square) the user must
also call the system with 8-bit data.
Press the Space Bar or G key to toggle this setting when
in edit mode.
Terminal Configuration - ANSI/VT-100 Toggle
This radio button controls whether or not this user's terminal can
support ANSI or VT-100 cursor and attribute control commands.
When the button is off (not filled with a square) TBBS will
automatically strip ANSI/VT-100 commands from all output before
sending it to the user.
NOTE: When this button is on (filled with a square) the user's
terminal or communications software MUST support ANSI or VT-100,
or garbage will be displayed on their screen.
Press the Space Bar or A key to toggle this setting when
in edit mode.
Terminal Configuration - Line feeds Toggle
This radio button controls whether or not this user's terminal
needs line feeds to be sent after each carriage return. When the
button is on (filled with a square) then TBBS will send a line
feed after each carriage return sent by the system. NOTE: Most
terminals and communications programs need line feeds.
Press the Space Bar or L key to toggle this setting when in edit
mode.
NOTE: If the user's display appears double-spaced, then this
settings needs to be turned off.
Terminal Configuration - Upper case Toggle
This radio button controls whether or not the user's terminal
requires upper case letters only. When the button is on (filled
with a square) then TBBS will translate all lower case letters to
upper case before sending them to the user. NOTE: Most terminals
can handle lower case, and this setting can be set to off.
Press the Space Bar or U key to toggle this setting when in edit
mode.
Terminal Configuration - CLS Codes
These six settings designate the ASCII characters which will be
sent to the user to clear their screen each time TBBS needs to do
so. These characters are decimal ASCII codes, and the six are
sent in sequence. Common settings are:
IBM (Plain): 12, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0
ANSI/VT-100: 27, 91, 72, 27, 91, 74
Generic: 13, 13, 0, 0, 0, 0
For other settings, query the user for their needs, or refer to
the CEDIT chapter of the Reference Manual, Logon Menu,
Terminal Definitions section.
Review the Userlog
This selection allows you to view all of the userlog records by
paging through them one at a time.
Once you are viewing, you may use the Page Up and Page Down
keys to view all userlog records regardless of which one you
started viewing. The last record "wraps" to the first record.
You may choose to edit the record you are viewing. To do so
press the F2 key. To view the alternate screen (with more of
the user's settings) press F5. Pressing F5 again will restore
the current screen. You may enter edit from either screen.
Name
This is the name (or ID) of the user who's record you are
editing.
From
This is the calling location of the user who's record you are
editing.

editing, and may consist of any characters or information you
wish to store there. (The notes field is not used by TBBS
itself.)
Billing Class Settings - Auth
These settings control the amount of time in hours and minutes
which are pre-authorized for the user in a particular billing
class. Upon expiration of the allotted time, the user will no
longer be able to access menus and their functions controlled
by the respective billing class. (In the case of class 0, the
user may not be able to access the system at all.)

How it Works guide.
Msg Areas for Sysop Access
These settings control whether or not this user has Sysop
privileges on the respective message board. Message boards are
numbered from 1 to 64 (as defined in CEDIT). Locate the tens
portion of the number on the left, and the digits along the top to
find the setting for a particular message board number.
. in a position means the user does NOT have Sysop privileges on
that board.
X in a position means the user DOES have Sysop privileges
on that board, and may read and delete any messages,
including private messages.
Net Mail Settings - Crash Toggle
This radio button controls whether or not the user is entitled to
send crash (continuous) mail on the Net Mail message board. If
the button is on (filled with a square) the user will be prompted
when entering Net Mail messages whether to send the message as
crash mail.
NOTE: This setting has no meaning on systems which do not have
TIMS or the TBBS Net Mail Utilities installed.
Net Mail Settings - Free Toggle
This radio button controls whether or not the user can send Net
Mail messages, even if they do not have sufficient Net Mail credit
to pay for it. If the button is on (filled with a square) the
user will be able to send Net Mail messages regardless of credit.
Otherwise, the system will prohibit the user from sending Net Mail
messages when they are out of credit to do so.
NOTE: This setting has no meaning on systems which do not have
TIMS or the TBBS Net Mail Utilities installed.
Net Mail Settings - Credit
This setting stores the number of Net Mail credits the user has,
in pennies (or the lowest currency denominator in your country).
It controls the volume of Net Mail messages the user can send,
based on the cost field of nodelist entries.
Valid settings are from 0 to 65535.
NOTE: This setting has no meaning on systems which do not have
TIMS or the TBBS Net Mail Utilities installed.
Net Mail Settings - Debit
This setting stores the number of Net Mail debits the user has
accumulated in pennies (or the lowest currency denominator in your
country). Each time the user sends a Net Mail message, its cost
is added to this figure based on the cost field of nodelist
entries. When this total has reached or gone past the credit
setting, the system will not allow any additional Net Mail
messages to be sent (unless the Free toggle is on).
Valid settings are from 0 to 65535.
NOTE: This setting has no meaning on systems which do not
have TIMS or the TBBS Net Mail Utilities installed.
Password
This setting stores the user's password. The password may be from
1 to 8 characters in length, and may contain embedded spaces.
Name
This is the name (or ID) of the user who's record you are
editing.
From
This is the calling location of the user who's record you are
editing.
Note

editing, and may consist of any characters or information you
wish to store there. (The notes field is not used by TBBS
itself.)
Address 1
This is line one of the mailing address data for the user who's
record your are editing.
Address 2
This is line two of the mailing address data for the user who's
record your are editing.
City
This is city name of the mailing address data for the user who's
record your are editing.
State
This is state name of the mailing address data for the user who's
record your are editing.
Zip
This is zip code of the mailing address data for the user who's
record your are editing.
Country
This is country name of the mailing address data for the user who's
record your are editing.
Phone
This is the phone number field for the user who's record you are
editing.
Name (or fragment) to search for
Enter the name or fragment of a name you want to search for in
the userlog. ULEDIT will find the next record for which the
name contains this text string.
Note: You can continue this search if the first record found is
not the one you wanted by pressing either F6 or Ctrl-L.
Set Caller Number
TBBS maintains a caller number which indicates the total number
of calls to your system. This menu allows you to set that number
to any value you wish. It is an 8 digit number.
Set USERLOG.BAK path
This entry sets the drive and path where ULEDIT will place the
file USERLOG.BAK. This file is created as part of the Backup
option on the Files menu.
Set USERLOG.PBK path
This entry sets the drive and path where ULEDIT will place the
file USERLOG.PBK. This file is created as part of the Backup
option on the Files menu. It is the work file ULEDIT builds
while squeezing and de-fragmenting the USERLOG.PTR file.
Backup the USERLOG.BBS and USERLOG.PTR Files
This command will make a backup of the USERLOG.BBS file to the
file named USERLOG.BAK and a backup of the USERLOG.PTR file to
the file USERLOG.PBK. While it is making this backup any of the
userlog records you have marked as deleted will be permanently
discarded. In addition, the USERLOG.PTR file will be squeezed
so that all extraneous entries are removed.
Print
This command will allows you to print a selected range of userlog
records.
Quit the ULEDIT Program
This option will exit the Userlog Editor. All files will be
closed and saved as they are now.
Search for Name Fragment
This option allows you to search the userlog to locate a name
or name fragment. The first record which matches this name text
(or name fragment) will be displayed and you will be in the
review mode.
Search for Access Level
This option allows you to search the userlog to locate a record
which matches a specified privilege and access flag condition.
The first record which matches this condition will be displayed
and you will be in the review mode.
Find Next Unreviewed User
This option will position you to the next user which does not
have the "Reviewed" flag set. This record will be displayed and
you will be placed in the review mode.
Note: You can invoke this option from the review screen by
pressing either the "N" key or the F4 key.
Continue Last Search
This option will continue the last search performed. The next
qualifying record will be displayed and you will be placed in
the review mode.
Note: You can invoke this option from the review screen after
any search by pressing either the F6 key or the Ctrl-L key.
Go To Record Number
This option allows you to position the userlog directly to the
specified record number. You will be placed in the review mode
on the specified record.
Apply Template to User Record
This option will prompt you for the name of a userlog template
(a single character) and will make the changes that template
indicates in the current userlog record.
Zero Statistics
This option will zero the current userlog record's accumulated
totals for connect time and file transfer bytes.
Add New User
This option will create an empty userlog record and add it to the
end of the userlog. You will then be placed in the edit mode on
that record to fill it out.
Reset News Read Flags
This option will reset the news read flag for all users in the
userlog. This will cause them to view the SIGNON2.TXT file the
next time they log on. This option should be used if you have
set the "View News Once" logon option and you have changed the
news file.
Apply Template Globally
This option prompts you for a userlog template (a single letter)
and will apply that template to every record in the userlog.
Mark Old Users Deleted
This option lets you set the maximum number of days since the
last call and ULEDIT will mark any userlog records which have
not called in that time frame as deleted.
Set A1/A2/A3/A4 Flags
This option lets you specify changes to the A1, A2, A3, and/or A4
flags which will be made to every record in the userlog.
Set Total Call Number
This option lets you set the system total caller number to any
number you desire.
Configure File Paths for Backup
This option lets you select where ULEDIT will place its backup
and work files on your disk system.
Configure Print Template Filename
This option lets you select which print template file will be
used for print actions.
