% introduction and misc news (hey, stuff happened.. read this)

welp, everything good must come to an end (no, i'm not referring to
demonic) put I am referring to demonic releasing in packs. yes, I
guess most of you probably noticed that this pack was amazingly
late again (two months or so) and infact the only real reason it
got out when it did was because sloop and a lot of our loyal supporters bugged the hell out of me for a month. so it's here, our
last pack. it took me awhile to get it out, but here it is...

so why stop releasing in packs? there's lots of reasons, but let's
start out with the biggest two. it's not easy running a group,
especially when you work full time, goto college and have an
amazingly time consuming hobby like sleeping. a lot of the major
releasers in demonic have been working on bigger projects, i'm
working on several door games and addons, as well as blink still.
natedogg is still hacking away at vivid, and de is working on the
ndf network package. that might not be the greatest reason, we've
always been able to pull it off in the past, right? yeah, than here
is a real one: bbses are dying, more importantly the bbs scene is
dying. there's less and less modders, doing less and less work.
we shouldn't have to wait and skip 2 or 3 packs just so we have
enough work to make a good pack. pretending you can pull it off now
adays is impossible. it's unfair to the modders to have to wait
months before anyone gets a chance to see their work, and unfair
to the whole group to be branded as dead everytime we miss a pack.
so we're now going for a new level of organization. all separate
releases. all news and other info will be kept on our homepage, and
once we get this going, it we be much less time consuming and much
      more efficient.

our new improved separate release policy means no more waiting,
no more crappy space filling mods, bigger mods and programs, no
more having to leech a whole pack just to see whats up with us, or
to get one specific file. the policy is going into effect as soon
as this pack is released! (demonic members, see dem-mem2.zip which
is included with this pack) demonic.net of course, will have to be
updated more frequently and be totally revamped for all the stuff
i'd like to do with it, so watch it for updates.

before I forget, I will be repackaging all of our previous 150+
releases to meet the new specifications.

there's no ick!mag this month because i didn't feel like coding one
i've been doing gutter lately (an artscene mag) anyways, let's give
you a quick run down...

iniquity 2.0 was released. it scared small children and
      concerned most iniquity sysops.

infusion a17 is coming, or came out.

mystic's author is still as prolific as a bunny wabit in on
prozack.

bill clinton won the hearts of many doodleboys.

dore released.

woe took over the edge. the edge died. woe modding died. a
new group was formed from the left overs.

obv/2 2.40 is still not out, though is apparently being worked
on.

team instinct had a big party and started work on 4.0, which
will apparently be all script driven. (eliteo)

horrid stopped developing impulse and released 7.1 and the
 source code to it.

vivid is still being touched up for a public release.

check woezine, and demonic's own web site for more compelling
0-day bBS ScENeZ nEWZzzz!

i'll make this part nice and short, the orgin of demonic. being
genuinly fed up with modding after the deaths of just about all my
old affils (tric, fsw, px, ts, sin, ta) i decided to take up my
own group (well, it was a nifty idea at the time) so i decided to
draft some of my friends from previous groups, i mean, people i
knew farily well and liked the work of. at first i didn't get much
support, but eventually (ie: after the death of most of their
groups and having nothing better to do) we all got together, the
final step in my grand scheme was to actually set a release date
and then pester the hell out of them for their work (this worked
fairly well in most cases) a few odd members joined (i don't know
where they came from but i'm not complaining) and here we are.

that wasn't short damnit...

% member info and other equally unimportant news

senior members... woah, did voivode drop off of the face of earth
or what? apparently illusion isn't worth promoting anymore, i guess
the bbs $cene is dead right? hah. julians not doing anything, but
jandor is (strange, opposite of last month) and he's obv/2 head now
that's about it. kers quit or took a vacation, i guess the whether
in sweden must be nice.. but toxic joined and took over, i guess it
isn't that nice, right chum?

new members.. damn, i guess i lied in the last pack about not
accepting any new members, we've got more than ever... toxic joined
right before last pack as an itc modder/coder, so did censored.
sloop joined to play with iq, and anything else he can get his
filthy little hands on, cyberphreak (linenoiz) joined to draw us
some damn good ansi (and he's pretty good at not whining about
taking requests) phluid joined to draw us some ascii, horrid joined
our coding ranks (he rocks, right guys?) infect joined to mod iq
iniquity i guess (mail me) and ezdagor joined to mod renegade (you
too)

leaving members.. way to many people to mention have been kicked or
have quit, mostly due to inactivity, if anything of them want to re
join they will be accepted instantly. notably kers is gone for now,
      so is voivode.

joining. to apply simply fill out the enclosed dem!app.exe and
send us yourinitials-app.txt and some work. we are upping our
standards a lot, so be prepared for critizism. if you wanna guest
with us simply contact me or nd.

% stuff that doesn't matter

shit from jandor

Hey, its me jandor. Umm i guess am obv/2 head again since julian
dissapeared. ok here it goes. obv/2 rules and the new author sucks.
he needs to die and burn and hell and sell me the obv/2 source code
so that at least someone can take it over and acctually release
something. im tired of waiting for that lazy bastard. So if ya
agree that i should take it over .. email me at jandor@purg.com and
we will start a little petition and get him to give it over. later

fecal matter via kargus

Jp must be getting pretty damned desperate if he's letting ME write
in the info file. Anyways, it's me, kargus. You probably won't see
anything from me in this pack, but that doesn't mean I'm not workin
on anything. You see, I have this affliction where if I don't try
to hack the Telegard 2.5g source 3-4 times a month, these nasty
blue bumps develop on my scrotum. It wouldn't be so bad if they
didn't itch, you know? So to avoid all these sexual complications,
I've started work on Avalon (tg hack, duh), which I hope will be a "clone" of Renegade (TM), only with a touch more configurability.
It's only a few days old (or weeks, depending on when this damned
pack is released), but currently multinode works, and I'm redoing
the modem routines. Yay!$

Anyways, I feel a tingle in my netherregions, so I'd better get
      coding.. Bye.

here comes that guy who didnt code obv/2

wow.. your either thinking who the fuck is this kid or i thought he
was dead kennedy. with the new release policy in effect i'm you can
look to see my latest mod, ndf (network data format) before 11/98
ndf will be implemented into several bbs softwares currently under
development (vivid and infusion to name a few) and for the dead
systems i'll be kicking the heads of the respective divisions to
get someone to make a conversion for the software or i'll end up
doing them myself. so now that you know where ndf will be found
your probably asking yourself what the hell it is. ndf is a data
structure that will allow bbs networks to store their message bases
main hubs, etc into a single file (with the clever extension .ndf)
that will automatically import all of the networks bases and data
into your bbs software. this will require you to still input the
networks data into a program like gecho but should cut down on the
installation of the network by around 50% so you now can all thank
the mastermind behind ndf and refer to him as "didn't you make ndf"
and not "didn't you code obv/2?".
