                Bimodem Deluxe BETA v0.83 for T.A.G. BBS 2.6

                      -=> What is Bimodem Deluxe? <=-
                        >=========================<

           Bimodem Deluxe is an enhanced interface between T.A.G. and the
        Bimodem 2-Way transfer protocol by ERIC Labs.Bimodem Deluxe as of
        this writting not only handles credit adjustments for any of the
        transfers made using bimodem on your T.A.G. BBS but also supports
        the pre-defined/ALT-A U file description transfer by adding the
        pre-defined description to T.A.G.'s data record/.DIR listing. If
        no description was pre-defined Bimodem Deluxe will ask the caller
        to supply a description at the end of the current transfer.

                        >=========================<
                      -=> Why Use Bimodem Deluxe? <=-
                        >=========================<

           Bimodem Deluxe enables T.A.G. sysops to use the Bimodem 2-way
         transfer protocol without all the problems assocated with using
         a 2-way protocol on a BBS (Which was designed to operate with
         only 1-Way protocols in mind). DSZ's Xmodem, Ymodem and Xmodem-1K
         are slow. Bimodem seems to faster (from the log) even in one way
         transfers since Bimodem supports up to 8k block sizes. Bimodem
         will reduce the time it takes a caller to Upload and Download on
         your BBS by up to 50%. (Sysops Of busy boards will Love this!)
         Using the Bimodem Resume option (Also by Peter Yao) your system
         will be able to take advantage to Bimodem's advanced Resume
         functions, allowiing files that were partially transfered on a
         previous call to be resumed at a later date...

                                       [1]

                       >=======================<

         v0.83
         =====
          ADD - Compiled using 2.6's unit.
               - Run Bimodd.exe by itself without parameter will display
                 the version and last date update.
               - Optimization and more Bimodd Debug details.

         v0.82
         =====
          ADD - Support a separate multinode directory for TAG betas.
                 There is a new 8th parameter, the directory you use to place
                 your Callers.log and Sysop.log. In 2.5g they reside in the
                 same directory as User.lst but the new beta and 2.6 allow
                 you to put them in different path. Right now this only works
                 with one line.

   ADD to INS - Additional required path for this new version. You don't
                 need to rerun INS if you already have Bimodem set up. For
                 those INS didn't work for them the first time, try again now.

         Summary: (If you run...)
           2.5g - you don't need to run this new version if the old one
                  works for you. If you insist, then add the directory of
                  where your Sysop.log is located to the end of the line
                  of Bimodd.exe in Test.bat.
    2.5beta/2.6 - Must use the method for 2.5g if you are using a shared
                  multinode directory.

         v0.81 debug release
         =====
          FIX - Duplicate uploads should now written to Sysop.log if you
                 do not have REJECT.LST set up.

          ADD - If Bimodd.bug is found in the same directory as Bimodd.exe,
                 extra debug info is written to Sysop.log. To create it
                 use any editor. Content of this file does not matter.

          NOTE - If INS.EXE locks up your machine then you need to
                 SET PY=C:\TAG\GFILES\ (the directory where your USER.LST
                 exists, with a backslash) This allows INS to read your
                 FBOARDS.DAT and give you the best setting for the path.

         v0.80
         =====

          ADD - Rewrote INS.exe to be more intelligent. It will read your
                 first directory (usually Sysop UL dir) and the drive it is
                 on and give you the suggested path name to be used for
                 Bimodem. If you are a current Bimod user that uses the
                 first path as described above, you can re-run INS in
                 another directory and compare the new Test.bat it creates.
                 INS also creates REJECT.LST (described below). Use an
                 editor to delete the paths that hold non-IBM files (such
                 as Amiga/Mac files).

          FIX - If you use SF O on your users and when the file is validated,
                 they do not get the upload credit. Bimodd was actually
                 checking AR O for this function.

         NOTE - You should not run Bimod Deluxe in multinode environment
                 under TAG 2.5i if you are using the same Caller.log for
                 both nodes. Future version will be multinode compatible.

         v0.72-v0.79
         ===========

          NOTE - Some people didn't know how to create Bimodd.cfg. Easy,
                 COPY BIMODEM.CFG BIMODD.CFG then Biconfig /CBimodd.cfg
                 to edit the necc. directory info. Also make sure your
                 Bimodd.cfg's default UL directory is first parameter in
                 Test.bat after Bimodd.exe (this will solve the problem
                 of TAG not seeing the uploads).

           ADD - Now duplicate files are deleted instead of moved. You
                 should set up a REJECT.LST which contains all your TAG d/l
                 directories in Bimodd.CFG so that Bimodem will stop users
                 from uploading them in the first place. Also set Delete
                 aborted files to N and set aborted directory in Bimodd.cfg
                 to your duplicate directory (ie. F:\dup)

           ADD - ALT-A U or predefined upload description now supported
                 Bimodem Deluxe will append the predefined description
                 to TAG's data record/.DIR listing. If no description
                 was recieved Bimodem Deluxe will prompt user to enter
                 one at the end of the current transfer session..

           ADD - If you're using TAG v2.5G or later, be sure to
                 use the '[REAL BAUD]' option in the protocol section.

                                   [3]

                     >==============================<
                   -=> What Will Bimodem Deluxe Do? <=-
                     >==============================<

        o Any uploads made by the user while downloading using Bimodem
          Deluxe will be transfered with description into the sysop UL
          dir and the credited to the user (Unless the user has SF O
          in which case you (The Sysop) must validate the upload before
          credit is given.)

        o Bimodem Deluxe fully supports the file description which can
          be added in BIPATH or using ALT-A U during transfers. If any
          files are recieved without a description the user will be
          asked to supply them at the end of the current transfer, If
          the user hangs up or is disconnected , the next time that
          user calls and uses Bimodem Deluxe they will be required to
          enter a description for the previous transfer.

        * The build in resume function in Bimodem can be utilitized by
          setting up a \DUP directory to store incomplete uploads. Bad
          uploads will not be credited but will remain there until someone
          resends the file or the Sysop deletes them from the \DUP
          directory. The files will be credited and moved to Sysop
          directory when the transfer is complete.

        o Supports Bimodem Resume! using BI-Resume (RESUME11.ZIP) you
          may not only allow files transfered with Bimodem to be resumed
          but files transfered with any protocol may be resumed at a
          later date. BR also re-asks the description of any files from the
          uploader. (See RESUME11.ZIP for details).

        o Automated batch (TEST.BAT) file creation using the included
          install program (INS.EXE)

        o Self updating TAG protocol menu system (Released As PT10.ZIP)

        o Maintains the SYSOP.LOG with File/K uploaded and transfer
          completion times

          FUTURE PLANS!
          =============

        ! Full installation program from creating neccessary directories
          plus inserting already made protocol data.

                         >======================<
                       -=> Bimodem Deluxe Setup <=-
                         >======================<

         Most would think Bimodem Deluxe too complicated to setup, but in
       reality it is a very simple process that if followed correctly may
       have you up and running in very little time with very little effort.
       Simply follow the steps I am about to layout and you will be set.

       1) Create a Sub-Directory from your MAIN bbs directory called 'B'
          (ex. 'CD\TAG'  'MD B'  resulting in C:\TAG\B\ )

       2) Unzip Bimodem Deluxe to your MAIN bbs directory (ei.C:\TAG\)

       3) Place BIMODEM.COM and BICONFIG.COM in your MAIN bbs dir also

       4) run BICONFIG.COM and create BIMODEM.CFG. Set all options as
          you see fit for your system except the following..

          [A] Set Allow Filenames Only (No Path) to === 'Y'
          [B] Set Allow Remote Requests To =========== 'Y'
          [C] Set Allow Local Request To ============ 'Y'
          [D] Set Allow Current Directory Access To === 'N'

       5) IMPORTANT! -- When creating BIMODEM.CFG be sure to
          set its default upload directory to your sysop dir
          and be sure your Data File/.DIR File is set up as
          FILES.DIR

       6) Save your BIMODEM.CFG file and exit BICONFIG.COM...

       7) COPY BIMODEM.CFG BIMODD.CFG

       8) Load BICONFIG.COM again! This time edit BIMODD.CFG.
          (ex. BICONFIG /Cbimodd.cfg ) Edit the Default UL directory,
          which you should set to a directory such as ( C:\BIUL\) or
          (C:\FILES\BIUL\). But be sure that both your UL directories
          are on the same drive or to be more clear the same Partition..

                                       [6]

       9) Run INS.EXE and answer the questions. (Make sure you set
          the directory names correctly , they must be the same as
          the directories you setup in BIMODEM.CFG and BIMODD.CFG.

      10) Confirm that your MAIN bbs dir (ei.C:\TAG) contains the
          following files that you have configured as instructed.

          TEST.BAT
          REJECT.LST
          BIMODD.EXE
          BIMODD.CFG
          BIMODEM.COM
          BIMODEM.CFG

      11) Confirm that the Single and Batch protocol entry exists and
          is setup correctly as in this document.

      ---------------------------------------------------------------
      If you followed the above directions correctly you should be up
      and ready to go. If you do run into problem feel free to contact
      the author in the TAG_DOORS echo or on his bbs.
