Classified Ads is a BBS Door that will allow you to enter classified ads into
a database maintained on the BBS. The Sysop specifies the number of days
an ad may remain current. At the end of that time, you will have to reenter
your ad if you wish to keep it current.
Listed below are the options you will find in Classified Ads with a few
remarks.
ADD A LISTING - This option is where you first enter your ad listing.
Classified ads will prompt you for the necessary information.
You will be asked if the information you have entered is
correct at the completion of each item. The description field
allows you to enter a complete description of the item(s) you
are entering, so make sure you give enough information to
allow the reader to get a full picture of what he is reading
about
UPDATE - This is the option you must choose to EDIT or UPDATE your
classified ad. You may choose which item or items you wish to
change or update. If you just want to do a quick update to
keep your ad fresh and current, choose [Q]uit and it will
automatically update your listing. You will only be able to
update ads that you originally entered.
DELETE - If you wish to delete an ad that you have listed, select this
option. Once you select [D]elete, the listing will be deleted
with no way to recover it. Be careful! As with the update,
you may only delete an ad that you have entered.
VIEW - When you select this option, the entire database listing will
scroll on the screen. You will be given the option to view
the information for an individual item you are interested in.
SEARCH - This selection allows you to search for a specific item you
are interested in. For example, if you were to enter a search
string of "PET", Classified Ads will search the ad listings
and descriptions for any occurrence of the word "PET" and give
you a listing of all entries that contain that string. You
will then be given the option to view all information for a
particular listing.
REDRAW - This selection allows you to redraw the current screen you are
looking at. If for some reason (perhaps line noise) a screen
gets garbled, you may select this option to redraw it without
losing your current location or entering a command you didn't
want to enter.
COLOR - This option allows you to toggle between ANSI color graphics
and ASCII text. *PLEASE NOTE: This option has no effect on
your BBS settings. It is only valid within the door.
QUIT - Quits the door and returns you to the BBS system.
INSTRUCTIONS - Displays the information you are now reading.
GOODBYE - Allows you to log off without first having to exit the door
and return to the system.
Classified Ads creates a full-color bulletin which you may view from the
bulletin menu. A TEXT file is also generated which individual SysOps may
provide for you to download. If you need help finding the bulletin or the
downloadable TEXT file, just ask your SysOp.
