===== Installation =====================================
!!!!! INSTALLATION !!!!!
Create a directory to hold all files in the CATLIST.xxx archive. After
unarchiving the distribution file, run the INSTALL.BAT. Failure to run
this file could cause this program to fail to run properly. Edit the
CFG files to suit your particular BBS system and software.
If you are upgrading a previous installation, please read the
UPGRADE.TXT carefully before attempting the upgrade. They may have been
changes that require you to run other programs and modify the database
before installing.
Make sure that PKUNZIP.EXE (v2.04g) is located in a directory that is in
the PATH statement in your AUTOEXEC.BAT.
MAKE A BACKUP!
NOTE: If this is a first time installation and you did not run the
INSTALL.BAT. Please, DO NOT call me for support. This .BAT file
was included for a very important reason. It makes sure that all
necessary directories have been created and the screens are
located in the proper directory.
NEW FEATURES!
Added CLBULLMK.EXE. This is a stand-alone bulletin/text compiler.
See documentaton for more detail.
Added [Q]uit option to Graphics selection screen
Isolated and fixed an overflow error that had been causing random
problems for the past 2-3 releases.
Added "BOTH" to the pay BBS question. Most subscription BBSs
probably offer some type of free access even though it may be
limited. Had several requests so, I added it in.
SysOps are now asked for the minimum and maximum connect rrates that
their BBS accepts.
The number of modems in the MODEM.CL file has now been expanded to
30. You *MUST* add the extra modems to this file or Catlist
will not work.
With the release of Wildcat! v4, the name of the ACTIVITY.xxx file
has been changed. If you are running WC!4, you will need to create
a 0-byte file in the door directory named "WILDCAT.4". CatList will
look for this file and write to the appropriate activity.log.
If you wish to have more than 1 .SPC file you may now do so. The
naming format is CATLIST(1-9).SPC. These files are displayed
immediately after the initial welcome screen. The initial screen
*MUST* be CATLIST.SPC.
Added SECURITY.CL and SECURITY.DAT files. The .CL file is an ASCii
file with one user name per line. CatList will compare the names in
this file to the user that logs into the door and if found, will
kick the user out of the door after displaying the SECURITY.DAT
file. This option allows you to deny access to individual users
that otherwise would have access due to their security level. This
is only available to REGISTERED sysops.
Added SYSOP.CL. This is an ASCii file located in the door
directory with 1 user name per line. Users that appear in this file
will be given SysOp priviledges while in the door. This will allow
you to give your co-sysop editing priviledges while in the door. If
you decide to utilize this file, you *MUST* enter your name in here
as well since it overrides the normal sysop checking. REGISTERED
sysops only.
Added a special update routine for Registered SysOps. This routine
will reset the last update date on all listings in the database to
the current date. You enable this routine by typing:
CATLIST -UPDATE
from the DOS prompt. DO NOT enter a CFG file name or any
other info on the command line. This should also not be placed in
your DOOR.BAT file to be run as as event.
Reversed the order of the CATLIST.HIS file so that the most recent
changes would be at the top of the file.
CatList will now prompt users that select the [A]dd function to make
a text search of their BBS before adding the listing. This could
save quite a deal of online time as I have seen many SysOps enter
their BBS info only to discover that it was already listed. This is
even more prevalent since the merge capability was added to CatList.
A LOCAL download option for Sysops. This only applies to the TEXT
download feature. You must specify a complete path and filename
when prompted or this feature will not work.
