THD ProScan Version 13.0
for DOS and OS/2
GETTING STARTED
Before proceeding past step one, READ ALL Documents (or at least glance over
them for warnings, changes and proper procedures).
Prior to beginning these steps, if you have a configured copy of THDPRO.EXE
you should relocate it or rename it so it is not overwritten by this
installation. (You can use the information it contains to speed up the
configuration portion).
Step one, Unarchive the files (obviously already done).

Make a directory for these files (do yourself a favour and DO NOT extract
over an existing installation, you can later move these files once
you are happy that everything is working correctly).
To extract the files from the archive you have a couple of options.
BOTH distribution files are self extracting archives. The files were
renamed ".RAR" because of problems with my ISP's mime-type settings.
[DOS] - rename the "original" archive to THD_13_0.EXE and run it.
[OS/2]- run THD213_0.RAR from an OS/2 prompt (renaming is not necessary)
[BOTH]- Extract the files using RAR.EXE or UNRAR.EXE
Create a LANGUAGE file.

Run THDCFG.EXE
Select "Language Editor"
Answer "yes" to update/create the default language file.
(you may be prompted twice, if so... answer yes both times)
Check Registration details for your area.

Having not yet left THDCFG.EXE, select "Author / Register".
You are shown author contact information.
After reading this, hit "R" for registration information.
Select the geographical location from the list which best
describes where you live.
You will then be shown the contact site (and prices) with which to
Register the product if you choose to do so.
Hit the "ESC" key to return to the main menu. (You can return here
after you've sent your registration fee to the correct site.)
Configure THD ProScan.

Select "Install/Configure" from the main menu.
If you have a previously configured copy of THDPRO.EXE somewhere,
then select "Previous", otherwise select "Normal".
If you selected "Previous", enter the full path and filename of the
previously configured copy of THDPRO.EXE. Check the final three
screens of the installation for accuracy, and configure any options
you have missed or which are new to this version (like IMAGEX usage).
If you selected "Normal" then answer the questions and supply the paths
etc which are required for the utilities you wish THDPRO.EXE to use.
Check your choices on the final screens and verify that those options
not previously shown are configured correctly (like the time stamp
and file moving options).
Hit the "ENTER" key from the last of the three final screens to complete
the configuration.
Leave THDCFG.EXE

Hit the ESC key or select the "Quit" option to exit THDCFG.EXE.

READ THE DOCS (I just KNOW you didn't do it the first time I told you to <G>)

The files which should now be present in the THDPRO directory.
STARTUP.TXT - This file.
THDPRO.EXE - The actual test program
THDPRO.DOC - explanation of command lines, switches, Environment variables,
optional configuration files, comment files etc.
THDCFG.EXE - The configuration program
THDCFG.DOC - Details of the various portions of the configuration program
and how to use them.
THDPLUS.EXE - BBS update utility.
THDPLUS.DOC - Explanation of optional command lines and supported software
of THDPLUS.EXE.
THDTERM.EXE - A utility for testing entire directories.
THDTERM.DOC - Command line options and use of THDTERM.EXE.
IMAGEX.EXE - A utility for testing / expanding disk images.
IMAGEX.DOC - Usage and registration details for IMAGEX.
HISTORY.DOC - An outline of changes, fixes and additions to all versions
of THD ProScan since it's inception.
FEATURES.DOC - A list of features and guideline as to how they work (and how
to configure them).
THDSETUP.TXT - User contributions on how to set up THD ProScan to work with
various BBS software programs.
NOTES.OS2 - Specific notes for users of the OS/2 Native version.
UNP.TXT - Warning text about the usage of UNP version 4.11 with
THDPRO.EXE
DISTSITE.TXT - A list of registration and distribution sites.
REGISTER.LST - A list of registered users of THD ProScan Version 13.0
VENDINFO.DIZ - A general information file
LANGUAGE.IDX - A data file used by THDCFG.EXE (must be present to create
language files)
THD_13_0.TXT - New features and changes in version 13.0.
THDEXARC.EXP - An "export" file for use with the Archive Editor which
includes definitions for JAR archives and MAC format ZIP files
as well as a few other formats you may wish to use.
LANGUAGE.THD - The language file you created by following the steps above.
