■ Fixed a problem where MTA with the MAKEARC (MAKEARC *.*) would also
allow OS/2 extended files (WP ROOT. SF and EA DATA. SF) to pack by
the target archive system. Most systems fail this operation and
this could cause loss of data;
■ Fixed a problem where MTA with the MAKEARC (MAKEARC *.*) would also
allow any SYSTEM file (like MSDOS.SYS and IO.SYS) to convert to an
archive. As the source-file is deleted after the compression, this
could cause terrible problems. HIDDEN and READONLY files are still
converted as they can easy be restored (when needed);
■ Fixed problems with the parse of the COMSPEC environment variable
(only 4DOS);
■ Fixed problems with the detection and parse of the MTA environment
variable;
■ MTA would allow the use of UE.EXE. As this program has no option to
make certain information available to MTA, it should NOT be used. If
you force MTA to use UE.EXE (and not UC.EXE), MTA will abort with an
error message. You MUST use the full UC2-package (UC.EXE) to make it
possible to convert from UC2 to another system. I have asked A.I.P.
to change UE.EXE in a way that it can be used by MTA (only to do the
extraction);
■ Fixed problems when running with GIF as compression-type (or when
overruled by /GIF on the command-line). Same problems occured with
/G2J and /J2G (only command-line);
■ Fixed various problems in the normal, overlayed and DPMI versions
after implementation of a newer level of commercial Pascal routines;
■ Fixed various specific problems in the DPMI version. Also added a
new version of the DPMI drivers (June '94 revision);
■ Fixed a problem with the MAXIMUS BBS-directories in AREA.DAT. If the
FILE directory was empty but the MESSAGE directory wasn't, MTA would
try to change to nil-paths. Also when such a directory contained a
backslash, MTA would not swap to that directory. Both problems fixed
with this release;
■ Fixed a bug where an archiver that was detected by MTA but was not
pointed to by a xxxPATH option (archive program was found thru the
DOS path), would get the (limited) memory that MTA did not use (eg.
there was no swap of MTA out of memory). MTA will now (by default)
always swap when a program is found thru the DOS-path and not thru
the xxxPATH option;
■ Optimized the overlay version to run faster for just a bit more of
conventional memory (when executed with the default settings);
■ Fixed a problem where MTA would report invalid attributes inside a
ZIP file with AV-code;
■ Fixed a very rare problem with PKUNZIP. Under DPMI, PKUNZIP would
report a help-screen (when obtaining AV-codes). Even with DPMI set
to OFF (in PKZIP.CFG), PKUNZIP would still try to access DPMI. MTA
is changed in a way, that '-)' (no use of DPMI) is forced when the
DPMI version of MTA is executed and ZIPVersion is 200 or higher. In
that case the problem is gone. This problem could be reproduced with
AND WITHOUT MTA, so it seems to be a bug in PKUNZIP.EXE;
■ Under rare conditions, some AV-codes could be extracted in a wrong
way, causing strange references in the log-files and mismatches in
AV selections. This is fixed;
■ Fixed problems with /Cx switches. Some of them did not work, others
triggered the wrong archive system. /Cx switches have been changed
into /CMPxxx (where xxx is the compression system, like /CMPZIP,
/CMPUC2 and so on);
■ Fixed problems where MTA would allow the addition to a AV'ed ZIP 2.0
file. With PKZIP 2.0 and higher this is no longer allowed unless you
use the original AV-code;
■ Fixed some problems with the HELP displays in MTA.CH2. The problem
only showed up under MTADPMI.EXE;
■ Fixed a problem in the log-file. The results of an optimize run were
not (anymore) displayed in the log-file. The message 'see results
below' had no meaning as there were no results (below). Now there
are;
■ On 'general' demand, I have changed the color of the line that tells
the user that a GOMTA.BAT is generated;
■ The touch-routines (TouchHigh, TouchLow and so on) will no longer
look at files with a zero length. The file IS converted though;
■ Fixed a problem where the date-touch routines (see above) looked at
included volume-labels. These labels are now skipped (but converted
if possible) for the calculation of the new archive date;
■ ZIPVersion now defaults to a value of 200 (when not coded). This has
the same result as 204 (current version) but new users won't have
any problems with the ZIP-conversion anymore;
■ Added the option NoExtendedWildcards in MTA.CTL. When set, MTA will
only allow normal dos-wildcard characters ('*' and '?') inside the
filenames. Special (4Dos <tm> and DISP <tm>) wildcards are treated
as normal characters;
■ Added the ONLYSFX parameter on the SFXArcInArc option. You now MUST
code either ALSONORMAL or ONLYSFX. The SFXArcInArc option without a
parameter will cause MTA to abort. There were too many questions
about this parameter, so I changed the coding in MTA.CTL somewhat !
■ Added the option 4DOSAware to force MTA into 4DOS mode. Only useful
when the automatic detection by MTA for 4DOS fails. Also added the
/4DOS command-line option;
■ Added the SubstOnNetworkDrive option. Handle with care. It can wipe
all your files when used in the work way;
■ Added the NoSimMove option to disallow MTA to move files with error
when running under simulation mode;
■ MTA will now log special attributes of the files inside the archive
into the log-file. This will only be the case when MTA is forced to
report special attributes (like read-only, hidden and system);
■ MTA will now detect viri in arc-in-arc files as well. Previously, a
virus was show in the target archive (with many warning files), but
MTA still validated the file. Now MTA will move the file to the
error directory when there is a virus in a nested archive;
■ Added support for the new release of UC2 (release UC2r2). This means
that volume-labels inside UC2 files will now be detected as such and
when converting to UC2 files, MTA can store any volumeID from the
source archive into the UC2 target archive;
■ Added support for the RAR archive system. To support RAR, the next
list of options is enhanced or added:
- Added RARPath;
- Added RARCompression (and /CMPRAR);
- Added RSFCompression (and /CMPRSF);
- Added parameters RAR and RARSFX to the CompresionType option;
■ Added 'virtual volume-label support' (VVS <tm>) which makes it
possible to convert archives with volume labels to archive systems
without such a support, WITHOUT loosing the volume-label (see the
description in chapter xx.xx) and the NoDummyLabel option;
