The following features have been added:
TranScan 2.25 01/19/92
* Colored the SysOp Screen and added quite a bit of information:
- SubDirector Being Scanned
- Time Elapsed
- Time Remaining when Minute Switch used
- Bytes saved/lost due to processing
* Changed -S (Selective Scan Switch) to -D (transcan.DID Switch)
* -S Switch is now the Sub-Directory Switch. You can now TranScan ALL the
subdirectories below the current directory, or the entire disk if you are
in the root directory. Just want to convert *.ZIP files on the whole drive
to *.ARJ for about 60 minutes a night, try this command line:
cd\
TranScan *.ZIP -S -Carj -M60
With PKZIP comming out with a new BETA version that compresses even smaller
than ARJ everyone will want a FAST Wildcat File Converter that will take
the drugery out of converting. TranScan can do the job effortlessly.
* Implemented a gradual expire feature. Start TranScan UnRegistered and it
will print a reminder on the closing screen and in the log that you have 30
(or 29, or 28, etc.) left in the trial program. In the Trial you can try
both COM and NETWORK. Run the program past 30 days and the COM and NETWORK
support will be turned off (A message is written to the log each run
reminding the user that it has been turned off)!
* Added more detailed descriptions of Exit codes passed by the External
programs. Now if yo try to run ARJ in addition to the Error Code: 8 TranScan
will report 'ARJ: Not Enough Memory Error!'.
* Added Compiler directives so that I can compile a Stand-Along version for
non Wildcat users. The Stand-Alone version takes up less than half the
space the fully functioning version takes up.
TranScan 2.24 01/12/92
* As some of you may have already noticed v2.23 did not update the WC database
at all. This has been repaired in v2.24.
* I reorganized most of the code so that it looks less like the Organization
structure of the Pentagon. Consequently, it should run faster. It should
also take up less space.
* I added a lot more messages to be displayed at the "Message Line". This
should help you determine what it is doing and why a little better.
* Demand for TranScan is at an all time high right now. Let me know if you
detect any nasties so that I can fix 'em!

* TranScan should NOT lock-up when carrier is dropped any more.
* If a lock-up should occur pressing [esc] should get out of it.
* When processing a directory you can now abort between files by pressing
[esc]. TranScan WILL finish processing the file it is working on right
now so don't beat on the [esc] key too hard.
* -D switch has been completely eliminated. To process files in a directory
use DOS commands just like you would using DOS's COPY command. For
example: To process the \UPLOAD directory you can now type
TRANSCAN c:\upload\*.* -carj
To process the GIF files only in the upload directory just type
TRANSCAN c:\upload\*.gif -G
You can even use the ? to process certain files like
TRANSCAN C:\upload\telix-?.zip -carj
TranScan 2.22
* TranScan toggles the Wildcat "Scan Failed" switch OFF as well as ON. If
you CLEANUP a file that originally had a virus just TranScan it again and
the switch will be changed from "Scan Failed=Y" to "Scan Failed=N".
* Invoke the -E switch to "Compress Everything". That's right, if the file
is not an ARC, ARJ, GIF, HYP, ICE, LZH, PAK, SDN, ZIP, or ZOO file it will be
compressed using your default compression program.
For example let's use the following command line:
TRANSCAN -CARJ -E -G

Picture.GIF Picture.GIF (but GIFLITEd)
I know of a few Wildcat BBSs that could sure benefit from having all those
